How To Use The Espeques Of Your Camping Tent

Already published here on the site an article about the types of espeques, and now we left a bit of theory to practice. How to use the espeques? How to put, how to take? How to straighten? And how to clean? Let’s talk about it in this article. Some things are pretty basic, but it’s always useful content for those just starting out camping!

When and which espeques use?
We can say that the espeques holding room and the sobreteto to the ground are absolutely required to be placed on every occasion (except when the soil does not allow put).
Those who Already hold the binders the floor can be excused in situations of rapid camps, without rain and forecast winds, if your tent is 100% woman.
Your tent is not already duly armed without the brackets, or if you are extremely careful with his equipment and want to last as long as possible, always use all the espeques! In addition, we consider that in all the situations below is also required the use of all espeques:
Adverse Weather: In case of rain, winds and storms, it is “mandatory” the use of all espeques, including those of binders. The more espeques, more firmer your tent and best she will resist an extreme climate.
Sandy Ground: In case of camp in a land whose soil is sand, polyhobbies recommends the espeques tent, since this type of ground already leaves the tent more vulnerable. And the hint: camping on the sand, the higher (longer) the stanchion, the better.
Isolated Tent: If you set up the tent and will spend the day away from her – enjoying nature, beach, trekking-, put all the espeques. After all, the weather can turn, can start to rain and wind and, if you’re not around to secure the stretchers, she may be damaged when you get back to camp.
Campsites of long duration: If you’re going camping for a week or longer, regardless of climate, soil and other factors, the ideal is to put also the espeques of the stretchers, as the tent will be exposed to bad weather for several days.
And if I’m camping on a hard floor and don’t try to shove the stanchion on the floor?
Hard floor: In case you have to put your tent on a hard floor, like a rock, concrete, slab etc., then we have a problem, because you will not be able to put the espeques and consequently your tent will not be as secure as it should in case of rain and wind. For this case, there are other ways (alternatives) to hold a tent to a hard floor, without using espeques, but with the aid of rocks or other resources. We’ll talk about that in another article. But be advised that if you’re going camping in a place of hard soil, make sure your tent is self-supporting, that is, that it is mounted without the espeques.

How to put the espeques in the soil?
Put a stanchion is something very simple: basically, just stick it in the ground! Only pay attention to two things: the tension and the angle.
Voltage: As I commented before, the stanchion serves to hold your tent to the ground and keep it stretched in the best possible way. This means that, by putting the espeques on the floor, you should be looking for tent, so that it is taut, but without forcing the tissue.
Angle: About the angle to be placed, is quite simple. Simply bury in a 45-degree angle from the ground, the direction of the tent.
Seen these two aspects, slide the stanchion on the ground simply by forcing him into the ground with your hand or foot. But watch the strength that you will use to stick, as it can warp – except the espeques angular type, which offer greater resistance.
If the soil is too hard, you can use a stone, wood or other hard object to beat him up and force your way into the soil. There are also those who take to the camp a stanchion, which are some marretinhas made exactly for this.
Some people recommend leaving a part of stanchion out, however, the more stuck, the smaller the chance of him escaping and the lower the chance of someone trip over it and get hurt. So, our advice is to bury, no fear, no mercy!
If you are camping on the sand, your tent may not be so tight. In this situation, also bury as much as possible. This prevents, to move around, he starts getting more sticking out of the Earth.

How to get the stanchion of the soil?
This is the most simple: just pull! Pull the right angle to be easier. If the stanchion has the head bent, Cap-in “head” of another stanchion and pull! In this way, it will be even easier and fast (especially if you’re pretty stuck in the Earth).
How to straighten the stanchion?
Some espeques more fragile warp easily, but that’s no reason to discard them. If you stick it on Earth, you had the strength to bend, you will probably be able to make it back to the original format (or nearly so).
To do this, use a stone or hard place to support one end and force the pie part until he gets it straight. If you are slipping, use a cloth to hold it. It may be that you can’t let him 100% retained, but if can get usable, is already valid.

How to clean the espeques?
To disassemble the tent, depending on the terrain, the material of the stanchion and the time he was in the ground, it will be a mess. And you need to clean them, it’s a fact!
Clean espeques is boring, but it is quite simple and necessary. If you are in a hurry to remove the tent, that’s the kind of thing you can ask for some friend doing – even one who does not understand nothing of camp can be a good espeques cleaner.
In most cases, some water and a cloth (or a napkin or piece of fabric) are enough to take the land. If the dirt is stuck to, invest in a sponge or scrubbing pads. If you do not have resources or time to clear the camp, ok, take it to clean at home. But know that you can’t get away with this task, especially if the material of the stanchion is rusting.
And you, what’s your experience with espeques? Already lost some? Already bent some, or several? Comment!
