IPhones do not have expandable memory. What is not so bad. For an iPhone with 16 GB, however, the storage space is rather narrow. What to do when it gets tight? Buy new iPhone? Or: simply create more disk space! How, I tell you today.
1. Remove Hungry Apps From The Iphone
Apps occupy space. This is no secret. There are only a few applications under iOS that are really broad. Uninstall these memory eaters and provide more space on your iPhone! For example, old games or apps for events that have already taken place. And yes, you can also uninstall Facebook, Twitter and more. Your data and settings remain stored on the server. After reinstalling, you will have a few hundred MBs available.
Tip: Discard Memory Greasers On The Iphone
To find the most greedy apps, just take a look at the settings. You will find the consumption of all installed applications under Settings -> General -> Usage. Under Preferences -> General -> Use -> Manage Memory hide the memory eaters of iPhone or iPad:
2. Clean Up Photos And Videos
Taking pictures with the smartphone is quite fun. The sensors do a lot and there are increasingly optical image stabilizers against the camera shake. However, HD videos (especially in 60-FPS mode) and HDR images are devouring memory. For a detailed photo, a few megabytes are quickly dropped – not to mention high-resolution clips. One hundred of them and the iPhone memory bursts at the seams. Therefore, very important: Secure your recordings regularly and then delete them from the iPhone.
3. Manually Manage Music Using Itunes
If you listen to music with your iPhone (or iPad), you can manage the files manually via iTunes.Connect your iPhone via USB to PC or Mac and start iTunes. As soon as you access the device via the corresponding iPhone button, you can see all the albums, songs and audio books that are currently stored in the mobile phone memory via the “Music” menu item. If you want to add title, you can do this using the corresponding button. Conversely, it is also possible to create more disk space and remove individual songs or albums from the iPhone. For more information about the steps required to clean up with iTunes synchronization, visit Apple’s support for content management.
4. “Recognize And Delete Other” Data
If you have your iPhone connected to iTunes, you can use a bar with colored sections to see the memory allocation on the phone. Audio, video, pictures, and iBooks are some files that occupy space. Then there are still “Others”. These are for example:
Since behind this grouping also some system files are hidden, you can not completely delete this area. However, it is good for your iPhone, if it frees occasionally from old messages and no longer needed e-mails. So you can make up again a few megabytes of memory.
5. Empty Browser Data From Safari
Small cattle, as is well known, crap. This also applies to the Apple browser Safari. It is preinstalled on any Mac, iPad or iPhone and offers you high user comfort especially in the mobile version. Over time, some data accumulates, for example through cookies, the browser cache and temporary files. At first you do not notice much of it. But as soon as the memory on the iPhone gets scarce, a look at the menu under Settings -> Safari:
Here you can immediately delete “History and Websiteaten”. Or you can look at the respective records under Settings -> Safari -> Advanced -> Website data. Here you can delete data for individual pages and bleed your memory.
6. Use Icloud And Wireless Storage
If you want to outsource data like mail, iBooks, photos or music, you can of course also use the iCloud. You get 5 gigabytes of storage space in the Apple cloud. Of course, you are free to subscribe to more memory. But be aware of what recordings are made in the cloud and what settings are active for privacy. After all, celebrities like actress Jennifer Lawrence have already fallen on the nose, because pictures came to the public, which were not intended for their eyes.
By the way, there is another way to export data and create more space on the iPhone. There are wireless storage devices which can be connected to the telephone via WLAN. Or you get a special memory stick, which you by Lightning to the iPhone. However, both measures are associated with extra costs. The wireless memory also puts your mobile data connection out of action.
