Regions and Resorts of Jamaica

The whole island can be considered one tourist region, but there is a conditional division into eastern, central and western parts.

According to Baglib, the capital of Jamaica – Kingstown – is located in the eastern part of the island. This is more of an economic than a tourist center of the country, very modern – it was actually rebuilt after the earthquake of 1907. There is a large port where you can look at large cruise ships, visit museums, restaurants, water entertainment centers. Port Antonio, in the east of the island, is popular for its great beaches, luxurious celebrity mansions and the fact that Treasure Island was filmed here. Wealthy locals live here, and today it is a quiet and, by local standards, an elite resort.

Tourists usually do not reach the central part of the island on a tour. There is a very interesting nature, mountains, lakes and waterfalls. The most popular resort area is Ocho Rios, a former fishing village, and today a beach resort. Spanish Town – in the past, one of the most criminal cities in the country, the authorities even had to persuade the population to hand over their weapons in exchange for free education and work. Today it is a contrasting town with interesting colonial architecture. Runaway Bay is a 20-minute drive from Ocho Rios. This resort, surrounded on all sides by green hills and mountains, is conducive to a serene rest, it is very quiet and calm here.

The western part of Jamaica is the most touristy. It is here that most tours from different countries depart, here the most popular beach resorts and hotels of international chains are located. The main tourist center is Montego Bay. Over the years, this resort has earned itself the reputation of a vacation spot for the rich and famous, but there are also inexpensive hotels and restaurants. The second most popular resort in the west of Jamaica is Negril. Its beaches are among the top ten in the world, great diving and snorkelling, and a vibrant nightlife. White House Baylocated on the southwest coast of Jamaica, an hour and a half drive from Montego Bay. This is the hottest tropical coast with sandy beaches, jungles and the only but luxurious Sandals Whitehouse 5 * hotel built in the style of a Caribbean village.
