Permanent Residence
A permanent visa can be obtained for the following reasons:
- investor
- Spouse of a Singapore citizen or a permanent resident
- Holders of a work visa or S passport (specialist with special qualifications)
- Studied in Singapore
Investor GIP (Global Investor Program)
You can participate in the investor program if you have a significant business history and a successful entrepreneurial background. According to allcitycodes, spouses and children (under 21 years of age) are entitled to obtain a permanent visa due to the investor visa.
There are two options for making an investment:
Option A: Invest at least S $ 2.5 million in a new or existing business
Option B: Invest at least S $ 2.5 million in a GIP fund

Investment requirements:
- Proof of track record and audited financial statements from the past 3 years
- Minimum sales of S $ 50 million per year
- If privately owned, at least 30% stake
In addition, the following applies to option A:
- Detailed 5 year business or investment plan
- Milestones specified in the business plan must be met in the third year at the latest
- Fulfill the business plan within 5 years of final permanent residence approval
- The hiring of at least 5 additional employees
- Additional annual business expenses of at least S $ 1 million
The last two points apply when investing in an existing business. Fulfillment required after 3 years at the latest.
In order not to lose your permanent residence status while you are outside of Singapore, you will receive a re-entry permit which is valid for 5 years. In order to be able to extend this, however, the following requirements must be met:
Option A investors
For a 3-year extension: The investment conditions according to option A must be met. In addition, either 5 other employees, there must be at least 5 Singaporeans among all employees, annual total expenditure increases again by S $ 1 million, oryou or at least one relative who also has permanent residence under the investor program must have more than half of the Have lived in Singapore for a while.
In order to be able to apply for a 5-year extension, all of the above points must be met.
Option B investors
For a 3-year extension: The investment conditions according to option B must be met. In addition, either
- at least five employees are citizens of Singapore
- at least S $ 1 million in total annual expenses, or
- you or at least one of your relatives, who is also permanently resident under the investor program, must have lived in Singapore for more than half of the time.
In order to be able to apply for a 5-year extension, all of the above points must be met. To apply for GIP, please submit your application using the following procedure:
- Pay the application fee of S $ 7,000 prior to submitting the application forms

The time between the transfer and the submission of the complete documents must be 1 month or less.

- Registration form for the application of the Global Investor Program (Form A)
- Explanation form for the proposed investment plan (Form B)
- Payment details of the application fee with a copy of the
- Transaction receipt (form C)
- Statutory declaration form
- Application for entry permit
Form 4: 1 original and 1 photocopy for each applicant. Unmarried children (under 21 years of age) can be included in the main applicant’s form.

If the qualification criteria have been met, an interview will take place. If the application is approved, the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will grant you Principal Residence (PR) status, which is valid for 6 months. After that, the investment must be made and verified within this time.
Proof:
- Certified copy of the investment documents (e.g. share certificate)
- Bank statements showing that the investment was made from your personal bank account
- Original signed declaration of commitment on the terms of the investment made
After receiving the documentation of your investment and the signed investment company, you will receive final approval of your permanent residence status from the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
The following general points should be noted with every application (investors excluded): The application fee is 100 Singapore dollars (S $) per applicant. As soon as the application is successful, additional fees are added:
- S $ 20 entry permit
- S $ 50 re-entry permit for 5 years
- S $ 50 identification card
- S $ 30 per entry visa
The processing time is between 4 to 6 months and can take a little longer in individual cases.
Under the Enlistment Act, all male Singapore citizens and permanent residents, unless exempt from tax, are required to register for military service. If you have a permanent visa as part of the investor program or as a specialist with special qualifications, you are exempt from military service as the main applicant.

An applicant photo (per applicant) must be uploaded during the online application. All documents must be translated into English by the relevant embassy or a notary (with authentication). In addition, all documents must be submitted within 96 hours of starting the online application.
Spouse of a Singapore citizen or a permanent resident
The following documents must be submitted:
- Valid passport
- Identification card (if present)
- Birth certificate
- Name Change Certificate (if applicable)
- Children’s birth certificate (if applicable)
- Divorce certificate (or death certificate if applicable, if applicable)
- The highest educational certificates
If you are an employee, the following also applies:
- Work permit
- Letter from the employer (must contain entry date, position, salary and must not be older than 1 month)
- Pay slips for the last 6 months
- Valid certificate of business registration (if self-employed)
- Business license (for self-employment)
The following evidence must be provided by the spouse:
- Identification card
- Official marriage certificate
- Divorce certificate (or death certificate if applicable, if applicable)
- The highest educational certificates
- Letter from the employer (must contain entry date, position, salary and must not be older than 1 month)
- Pay slips for the last 6 months
- IRAS Consent Form must be submitted to the ICA (Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority). This applies to the financial audit
- Valid certificate of business registration (if self-employed)
- Business license (for self-employment)
Holders of a work visa or S passport
The following documents must be presented for this purpose:
- Valid passport
- Work visa or S passport
- Identification card (if present)
- Birth certificate
- Name Change Certificate (if applicable)
- The highest educational certificates
- Employment references with details of the salary
- Pay slips for the last 6 months
- Letter from the employer (must contain entry date, position, salary and must not be older than 1 month)
- IRAS Consent Form must be submitted to the ICA (Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority). This applies to the financial audit
- Valid certificate of business registration (if self-employed)
- Business license (for self-employment)
If married:
- Official marriage certificate

If the spouse is included in the application, they must prove the following:
