Dynamics in its purest form – with a high efficiency coaxial transported the DynaVox impulse III (1400 euro per pair) a gigantic game pleasure. For the price, it remains on the carpet.
- Test: Speaker DynaVox pulse III
- Data sheet
Especially on the electronics side, the interaction between speakers and amplifiers leads to heated discussions. Very sophisticated transistor cars compete with fashionable switching amplifiers and aesthetic concepts of tubes. The tastes are different, but in the high-end segment, the glowing glass bulb have currently clearly the largest inlet.
Tubes deliver less output power but in the cut and are sensitive to low impedance loads. Right speaker should can if possible hold back when the Watts requirement and have a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms instead of the usual four.
Such a transducer is the new pulse III by DynaVox, the design of which indicates that this model with the mainstream has not much on the hat from afar. Height as width were significantly more richly than usual. The front is glossy finish, but must come from the body with a wooden replica.
A semiprofessional, suspended hard 12 inch coax, supported by a complex sound management and a bottom exit hole in the lower bass range is installed. The 8 ohm promised in the data sheet are adhered to almost one hundred percent measurements in the stereoplay laboratory in the bass and keynote range. That the curve in 15 kilohertz to nearly closes 5 ohm, has little meaning for tubes.
Very low watt requirements
The sensitivity isn’t quite so high is described by the manufacturer specified, with around 90 decibels at 2 volts – which is equivalent to half a Watt for an 8-ohm load – the DynaVox exceeds the usual living room standing speakers to an average 6 decibels, she needs only a quarter of the power in the cut.
That ordinary hi-fi speakers with much smaller chassis and enclosures more require an amplifier, has several reasons. So the Watts requirement with the membrane surface of low – and midrange driver is linked. Smaller systems bring fewer air molecules to vibrate with and are therefore in otherwise comparable interpretation by nature quieter. The tonal vote affects the Watt demand. A deep lower limiting frequency makes the bass sound richer and more credible, including but usually the efficiency suffers.
A high impedance load would be easy to produce, this would have to otherwise carried only the voice coils and adjusted the crossover components in small boxes. But with the higher impedance less current would flow, which would make the already quiet boxes even quieter.
The lush surface the frugality of the DynaVox only partly explains the rest is accounted for by the strong drives, which, in turn, prevent shine services in bandwidth. The transmission range is in the bass only to about 50 Hertz; not much for such a giant box.
The tonal vote looks dry and bright, you get but by a bass-enhancing, near a wall installation richer. But even on the wall, the DynaVox has firmer as the most free-standing mainstream boxes.
Fresh out of the box, the pulse III first time rather gruffly sounds. The import process takes longer than usual, even after a week, something else does. Already with cheap transistor amplifiers, the box provides gigantic level reserves available, but the impression remains sober, at times even cold.
But as soon as tubes bring their suspension to smooth heat in the game, the Beefy tone furniture as replaced sounds. From abruptness, speed, from biting is precision high-resolution from karger asceticism and brilliance.
With amps like the Ayon Orion (2000 euros, issue 12/09) the DynaVox served even the finest loud/quiet shades so casual, that many conventional speakers fall into distress. Even the maximum level are in the Green Zone – despite only around 30 watts.
That something tonaler touches the centers goes off and the spatial figure not on the level of constructive modern coaxial systems can reach, you like to forgive this DynaVox. For Dynamics enthusiasts, the pulse III is a great success to the outstanding fair course.
